Leila received her training as a birth doula from the nurse practitioners, maternity nurses and midwives of San Francisco General Hospital's Doula Program. She volunteered as a birth doula for San Francisco General Hospital, while working as a program coordinator for a transitional home serving women with children where Leila offered her support as a postpartum doula. Leila is also a Certified Birth Educator, through Birth Arts International. Leila’s life’s work is rooted making valuable resources accessible to all people.
Leila founded Selah Doula Services in 2014, to provide tangible and emotional support, advice and resources to postpartum families. It is through her work as a postpartum doula that she has come to understand the depths of need and loneliness that women and even couples experience, after the arrival or loss of a child . Leila co-founded the Triad Family Network (TFN), whose goal is to improve the health and wellness of families through open and free community events to raise awareness, create engagement, and provide resources and information. Leila is always excited and honored to support Greensboro's women and their families, and constantly looks for opportunities to nurture budding relationships while deepening established partnerships with local and national organizations.
