For the most effective postpartum support I recommend a minimum of 20 hours of care on a schedule determined by us. This minimum commitment of 20 hours of care is required to secure my services prior to birth. (This minimum differs if hired after the birth.)
My rate is $20/hr. I require a 50% down payment of scheduled services one week prior to the estimated due date and the remainder at the first home visit. I accept cash and checks.
Sliding scale may be available for families facing significant financial barriers—please inquire!

As a Postpartum Doula, I DO NOT:
- Make decisions for you, though I may assist you by providing information and/or gently remind you of your decisions you previously discussed.
- Diagnose medical conditions or perform medical tasks (eg: administering medications, taking temperatures). I am trained in postpartum adjustment and newborn characteristics and care. If I feel there is a concern, I will advise you to contact either your or the baby’s medical care provider.
I have supported families through:
Education
- Breastfeeding and/or bottle feeding
- Sleep suggestions for the whole family
- Demonstrating newborn care (soothing, bathing, burping, diapering, babywearing, cord care, pacifiers, etc.)
- Providing hands-on education on birthing parent care to family members
- Information on normal newborn characteristics and behaviors
- Screening for hurdles such as postpartum mood disorders and breastfeeding challenges
- Helping parents learn skills that will enable them to cope with their new responsibilities
- Providing referrals to appropriate professionals and support groups
Emotional Support
- Coaching and counseling following miscarriages, deliveries and abortions
- Supporting vulnerable new parents by offering a listening, non-judgmental ear
- Non-judgmental parent coaching/helping parents develop their own styles of nurturing and bonding with the baby
- Supporting growth in parenting skills
- Validating the normal adjustment process
- Supporting you through any postpartum depression and other mood disorders
- Fostering strong attachments between parents, baby and siblings
- Unlimited email and phone contact as long as postpartum services are provided
Physical Tasks
- Creating a nurturing, restful atmosphere in which parents may eat, shower and nap
- Accompanying family on outings such as to the doctor's office, new parent support groups etc. (can be especially helpful with multiples or after a c-section)
- Practical help for adjustment of older siblings
- Providing suggestions and/or preparation of healthy meals/snacks
- Performing light household tasks such as dishes and laundry
- Helping birthing parents to feel more comfortable and care for their postpartum body
- Running errands such as to the grocery store or pharmacy
- Some animal care, such as feeding pets and walking dogs
